PJ Blanchfield, candidate for Colonie Town Justice

After three decades serving Albany County as an attorney, it is my honor to be selected as a candidate for Colonie Town Justice.

 

As I seek official election to the position on Election Day, November 4th, 2025, I humbly ask for your support. 

 

I would like you to understand why my background makes me highly qualified and uniquely situated to serve as your best choice for Colonie Town Justice. As a former Assistant District Attorney and now a Special Prosecutor, I have 32 years of experience prosecuting some of our region’s most complex and serious cases.​

​​In my years of legal practice, I have earned the trust and respect of my peers and clients by practicing law with justice, morality, and fairness for all. Over the course of my career, I have practiced and appeared in Colonie Town Court hundreds of times.​ 

 

Born and raised in Albany County, I have lived in the Town of Colonie for over 30 years. I am actively invested in our community, volunteering weekly at St. Pius X Church and proudly sitting on the Colonie Zoning Board of Appeals. I am dedicated to further helping the citizens of Colonie in my continued pursuit of justice for them, and would be honored to have your vote for Colonie Town Justice.

Meet P.J. Blanchfield

P.J. was born and raised in Albany, and has lived in the Town of Colonie for over 30 years.

 

P.J. attended the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA), where he played football, basketball, and ran track until he graduated in 1982. P.J. was inducted into CBA’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2002.

 

P.J. went on to further his education at Hamilton College, where he played and went on to letter in Division III NCAA football, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1986.

 

Postgraduate, P.J. began work as an insurance broker, where his thorough reading of personal injury and liability law sparked his interest in a legal calling. He went on to attend the New England School of Law, making Dean’s List and graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1992. P.J. was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1993, and later to the U.S. District Court Northern District of New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 2005, P.J. began his own practice and started serving as a Special Prosecutor for Albany County, a duty he has now performed proudly for 20 years. P.J. is also currently a partner of the law firm Blanchfield & Fallon, LLP. In his firm, P.J. works with numerous Town of Colonie residents, emphasizing expert service built on trust and dignity.

 

P.J.’s father ‘Pete' was a well-known member of the community, first as a general manager at DeNooyer Chevrolet, and then at the well-known Town of Colonie restaurant BEFF’s, which he started with P.J.’s twin brother, Mickey. Growing up watching his parents work together to support their large yet tight-knit family, P.J. learned the importance of treating everyone with fairness and respect to support the greater good. He also learned about the hard work, common sense, and strong moral compass necessary to protect the peace in a community.

 

In representing the citizens of the Town of Colonie as your next Colonie Town Justice, P.J. will carry on his family's legacy of hard work, honor, and respect.
